Questions we get asked a lot.

Is this tax advice?

No. ClearHold is a record-keeping tool — it sorts your rental transactions into IRD categories and produces a clean workbook your accountant can review and file. Think of it as the bit that comes before advice. For the advice itself, talk to a NZ accountant or registered tax agent.

What if I own more than three properties?

ClearHold's current plan caps at three. Most NZ "mum and dad" landlords own one or two — that's who this is built for. If you own more, email hello@clearhold.nz and we'll talk about where we're going next.

What happens if I cancel?

You keep access until the end of your billing period. Your data stays exportable (CSV + PDF) for 90 days after that. No auto-billing surprises.

How does Akahu bank sync work?

Akahu is NZ's open-banking platform. You authorise read-only access to your rental account(s). ClearHold pulls transactions and categorises them — it never moves money. Akahu is included in the Core plan.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Hosted in a secure Railway container. Encrypted credentials. Bank connection via Akahu is read-only. We don't sell your data or share it beyond the providers required to run the service (hosting, email, bank aggregation).
